We went to Beavers Bend State Park in Oklahoma with the Obenhaus family. They have two little girls and Rachel is pregnant also so we had the same vacation constraints :) We decided on an outdoorsy trip, well in a nice cabin that is!
when we first drove up...
bedtime books with Matt
this is how we rode everywhere. all three girls in the middle and the two pregnant women squished in the back (one back seat had to be down for all our gear) where there were no air conditioning vents. Yes, that leaves the men with plenty of room up front and directly in front of the air vents!
train ride through the forest
we saw some deer up close on our ride...
canoeing!
Madelyn gave Gwyn her bday present...a ladybug tent, perfect for our vacation...
hanging by the fire pit...despite the 100 degree weather
throwing sticks on to keep the fire burning...
S'mores!!
little Gwyn loved Clint :)
this sign marked the beginning of our family friendly 1 mile hike...
which turned into a FOUR mile hike with just one wrong turn!
the girls were troopers! they all walked a ton but also rotated between Matt's backpack and Clint's shoulders!
maybe walking sticks will help ;)
fishing
her first time to touch the worm!
that's enough fishing...the girls were dying to swim in the lake!
back at the cabin...
making cookies
and playing cards
despite the fact that this is an air mattress made for kids (it has inflatable side rails), I still found Madelyn like this one night...she is a CRAZY sleeper!
now for fly fishing...
M and Ellie
getting a lesson
Clint caught a crawfish and was trying to let it pinch his arm. Boys! Madelyn was obviously a little nervous about this...
the river was FREEZING! the girls swam briefly with their daddies
nightly popsicles
our wonderful cabin
