Our Weekend

Our weekend started off with a MOPS playdate at Kids Kountry, an all wooden playground with swings, slides, and even a big sandbox. I recently joined a MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group in Coppell. We missed the first meeting and will miss the second also, but we were able to meet a few of the moms and kids at the playground. Everyone seemed really nice and I'm looking forward to attending our first meeting....hopefully in late October.

I absolutely LOVE this picture of Madelyn. She has learned to scoot herself to the edge of the slide and start the descent by herself before I grab her hands to slide the rest of the way down. She is getting so big!

Pick me up, please!

More fun in Kid Kountry

We went to dinner at a nearby neighborhood restaurant before attending a free magic show put on by the homeowner's association.

hmmmm...what should I order?

One of the few times Madelyn has seen fire. She kept pointing at the fire pit from our table, so I took her over to have a look...where she just continued to point at it

then off to the magic show....the magician was also a ventriloquist and Madelyn liked watching the puppet (because she obviously didn't get any of the magic), and she also liked when he pulled out a balloon!

before the show started, Madelyn was entertained by the kids playing in the water fountains behind us

Saturday we went to the State Fair of Texas! Here are Clint and Madelyn in front of Big Tex

and Madelyn rode her first carousel!!! We have been meaning to take her on the carousel at the mall, but hadn't done it yet, so we were excited for her to ride this one at the fair. She liked it for about half the ride and then was ready to get off her horse. Clint ended up just holding her while she petted some of the other horses.

then we went to a stunt dog show! Madelyn was of course interested in the dogs and kept smiling, laughing, and clapping. She also kept hitting the man in front of us (in her excitement) and he would turn around and say things like, "I know, I see the dogs too!" This thrilled Madelyn. The man had a little girl also and was a very good sport about it.

I couldn't leave the fair without a Fletcher's Corny Dog!

After the fair, we stopped by Carter's house. Madelyn and Carter went down for naps and the rest of us grilled fajitas and watched football. Then when the babies woke up, they got some good play time in before dinner.

look, the dog is over there!

Madelyn was riding Carter's car and apparently she was going too slow, so he decided to push her...too funny!

On Sunday, we didn't do anything too exciting, but we did go to the grocery store where they had this lovely display of pumpkins. We decided to take advantage of the photo opp

here is the video..."walking" and waving Hi!

Who needs a walker...

...when you can use kitchen chairs and a box of diapers!!!
I have a cute video of her walking with the box, and if I can remember how to upload a video, I will do that later

Clint joined the fun at The Little Gym last week! I realize you can't really see if his face in the pictures...I was more focused on Madelyn.

doing a back roll over the mat
she might want to work on landing on her feet :-)
climbing the stairs
her teacher used her to model the skill of the day...a back flip/roll over the bar...kinda scary!
and a back roll down the mat...much less intimidating

These pictures were from earlier today...I thought she was being too cute!

serious face
We bought a train whistle at Toys R Us and she is trying to figure out how it works

she can't make it whistle by herself, so she hands it to me every time she wants to hear it
and then is excited by the sound!

this is how a picture turns out when no one else is home and I try to hold the camera myself

Nana

This weekend Nana (Clint's mom) came to visit! She was delighted to find out that Madelyn can now say Nana!!

Clint, his mom, and M
Madelyn having her bottle at dinner...with one foot in the air!
kisses!!!
and she never tires of drinking through a straw...if only she could do it by herself, but that wouldn't be near as much fun

Nana knows Madelyn loves animals, so she suggested we go to a pet store. We were hoping for dogs, but only saw birds, guinea pigs, etc. They did have one cage with two very playful cats though, so M enjoyed them.

Then we headed to Whole Foods to get the ingredients for the dinner that Clint and Shelley cooked together, and to our surprise, a shelter was out front with dogs for adoption. So Madelyn got to pet some dogs after all.

Nana was out shopping and came home with a kit to make a puppy puppet. Madelyn loved it as the puppy gave her kisses, popped out from around corners, and even came to get her out of her crib one morning!

Saturday night, we watched Texas win over Texas Tech! Madelyn didn't have on her Longhorn attire, so she thought it was only appropriate to cheer naked! And this is classy, I know, but she also showed her support by "drinking" a beer in a burnt orange coozie!

Here are some pictures from before Clint and I went out of town that I never had time to post...

My Aunt Nicole, Chad, and Alexandra came to town and stayed at the Great Wolf Lodge. We met them there for dinner, and that place is awesome! We can't wait to stay there with Madelyn when she gets older.
