I've discovered a story time for babies 12 months and younger at the library just minutes from our house (and in Dallas, nothing is just minutes away so I was very excited...it is literally right around the corner). The story time, called Mother Goose, isn't really a "story" time at all, but it was lots of fun. We started with a hello song, then did some stretches, then many more songs (everything requiring you to interact and do motions with your baby...very fun), then ended with a goodbye song. Oh, I almost forgot the parachute...Madelyn really liked that part. This is actually where the allotted time ends, but the teacher brings around a variety of board books and lets each baby pick one or two. She also sets out an assortment of balls for the babies to play with. The teacher said this is the time for moms and babies to mingle! All in all, we had a good time, except Madelyn wasn't crazy about the Rock-a-Bye-Baby song...she refuses to be rocked or even held in that position. In her defense, she was not the only baby refusing! We will definitely go back but will have to wait until June as there are no story times in May.

Sunday Brunch
Yesterday we got to see our good friends Allison and Jordan Gristy! They were in Dallas for a wedding and we met for brunch before they had to drive back home to Austin. Allison and I met in graduate school when we had some classes together, but it wasn't until I was there when she got hit by a car that we really hit it off! We have been wonderful friends ever since. Clint and Jordan became friends too, and the four of us often hung out while we lived in Lubbock. We miss them very much!Oh, and thanks to Nana for the very cute new outfit!

Nana

Then on Sat, Clint had a daddy/daughter day + Nana while I went to a spa for a massage and a facial. Not a typical Saturday for me (I wish!) but Clint gave me the gift certificate when Madelyn was born, and I was just now taking advantage of it. While I was being pampered, Clint, Nana, and Madelyn went to eat Greek food and then to buy Madelyn some new clothes...can you believe she was running low on 6 month outfits? Anyway, they found lots of cute stuff, so she can stop wearing her PJs out in public.
Today is also a big day for several people in our family. Happy 90th Birthday Grandpa!!! We wish we could be there to celebrate with you. And Happy 16th Birthday to Sara and Benjamin (my twin cousins). ..warning to all other California drivers!

Happy Easter!

Here she is with her Great-Granny
and Aunt Sharon
and the whole crew out to lunch

cousin Major

No Easter is complete without an egg hunt for adults...here we are pushing each other out of the way to be the first out the door...all because 1 egg out of 42 has $20 in it. Yes, that's my Granny fighting to get out the door with everyone else! Imagine if there would have been a larger bill in the eggs.

Papa was nice enough to help Madelyn find some eggs...I love this picture

this one is special...the four generations!

The day finally came to an end with a private performance from none other than Madelyn herself. She even got to take the little piano home as long as she promised to pass it along when Mommy's cousins have babies. What? I won't always be the only baby in the family and get all the attention? I don't know how I feel about this.
All this plus Mad Gab, Catch Phrase, Granny's famous white cake, Texas pie, peach cobbler with ice cream, banana pudding, chocolate chip cookies, molasses cookies, Aunt Sharon's iced sugar cookies, and it is safe to say that a good time was had by all!

Dinner Date

After working up an appetite, Madelyn and Carter had a dinner date! +087.jpg)

The mommies and daddies were hungry too, so we had a dinner date of our own...we went out to Cyclone Anayas for some mexican food. +095.jpg)
Madelyn seems to have lost interest in Carter at this point and more worried about showing off her pink shoes to anyone who passes by our table!+090.jpg)
